About this experience
Azerbaijan has been making wine for a very long time, and the Gabala foothills are one of the places it is still done at scale. A visit walks through the working side - the presses, the tanks, the barrel cellar - before sitting down to taste.
The tasting is the point: local grape varieties alongside the international ones, poured and explained. The setting, with the Greater Caucasus behind the vines, is a large part of why the stop is worth making.
