About this experience
Located in the serene and scenic Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens, it is only 10 minutes’ drive away from the city centre of Kuala Lumpur. It is home to more than 3,000 local and foreign birds of approximately 200 different species.
Sprawling approximately 20.9 acres of verdant valley terrain, the park is divided into 4 zones; Zone 1 and 2 make up the free-flight zone; Zone 3 is the Hornbill Park and Zone 4 is where the birds are placed in separate cages and mini aviaries.
One of KL Bird Park’s most extraordinary feature is that in Zone 1, 2 and 3, birds are let free in the aviary which closely resembles their natural habitat. With this free-flight concept, birds are able to breed naturally in this unique environment.
Visitors will have an exciting experience of watching colourful and melodic birds perching and winging about freely while relaxing in a natural and beautifully landscaped surrounding. KL Bird Park is also wheelchair-friendly and is reputed to be the largest free-flight walk-in aviary in the world.
Overview

KL Bird Park is a major attraction located in the Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens, just 10 minutes from the city centre. Spanning 20.9 acres, the park is a destination for bird enthusiasts and families, housing over 3,000 local and foreign birds representing approximately 200 species. The park is divided into four zones, offering a range of viewing experiences from natural free-flight environments to specialized aviaries.
Natural Habitats and Free-Flight Zones
The park is best known for its free-flight walk-in aviary, which covers Zones 1, 2, and 3. In these areas, the birds are not confined to cages but live in an environment landscaped to closely resemble their natural habitats. This approach allows visitors to walk among the birds as they fly and perch freely. This setup also supports natural breeding behaviors, making it a unique location for observing bird life in a naturalistic setting. The park is also reputed to be the largest free-flight walk-in aviary in the world.
Park Zones and Accessibility
In addition to the free-flight zones, Zone 4 features separate cages and mini aviaries for specific species, including a dedicated Hornbill Park in Zone 3. The entire park is designed to be wheelchair-friendly, ensuring that the landscaped grounds and aviary paths are accessible to all visitors. Whether you are a solo traveler, a family, or visiting with friends, the park provides an opportunity to see diverse bird species in a lush, verdant valley environment near the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
