Living Art Shaped by Environmental Phenomena
teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi is a revolutionary, 17,000-square-meter purpose-built architectural space in the Saadiyat Cultural District. Created by the Tokyo-based art collective teamLab in partnership with Miral and the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi, this landmark museum departs from traditional projection mapping. Instead, every installation is produced by tangible environmental phenomena such as air currents, water vortices, atmospheric light, and gravity.
Organic, Ever-Changing Digital Ecosystems
Within the museum's monumental spaces, artworks exist in continuous transformation. Installations do not repeat pre-recorded video loops; they are calculated and rendered in real time in response to visitors walking through, touching, and interacting with their environment. Water flows respond to footsteps, air pressure structures shift shape as guests approach, and kaleidoscopic light waves ripple outward across subterranean and elevated galleries.

Situated alongside Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, and Zayed National Museum, teamLab Phenomena establishes Saadiyat Island as a global capital of groundbreaking cultural expression. The architecture itself was engineered around the art, creating organic chambers, sloped reflective valleys, and mist-filled halls that immerse visitors in a world where art and science converge.

Things to know
- Located in the Saadiyat Cultural District on Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi.
- Operating hours are 10:00 to 22:00 daily; last entry is strictly 2 hours prior to closing at 20:00.
- Admission is by timed-entry reservation to guarantee entry and preserve the immersive atmosphere.
- Water exhibits are a major feature; pack a change of clothes for children. Filtered, chlorinated water areas can also be skipped if preferred.
- Strollers are not permitted inside the galleries and storage space is very limited; leaving strollers in your vehicle is recommended.
- Complimentary lockers and changing facilities are available near the entrance.
- Children aged 12 and under must always be accompanied by an adult.
- Parking: Main entrance parking on-site, plus Saadiyat Car Park 3 and Car Park 4 served by continuous shuttle buses on a first-come, first-served basis.
Know before you go
- Wear comfortable, flat walking shoes; high heels and slippery soles are prohibited on reflective slopes.
- Trousers or shorts under skirts are strongly advised due to extensive mirrored flooring throughout multiple rooms.
- For the water areas, guests wearing an abaya can hold or clip them as preferred; towels are provided upon exiting the wet areas.
- Download the official teamLab app on your mobile device before arrival for interactive artwork engagement and wayfinding in darkened spaces.
- Certain artworks feature strobe lighting, flash effects, UV lights, and fog effects.
- Photography and personal video recording on mobile phones are welcome without flash, selfie sticks, or tripods.
