Phuket and Krabi Package Price for a Couple: 5 Nights

For two people, 5 nights split as 3 in Phuket and 2 in Krabi costs about Rs 1.1 lakh to Rs 1.9 lakh with return flights. That covers hotels, the airport and road transfers, one island day and the Maya Bay park fee, which never shows up in the brochure number. The gap between the two ends comes from three choices: your departure city, the grade of hotel, and the boat you take on the island day. All prices below are approximate and dated as of September 2026. I also say where I would spend more on this route and where I would not.

What the trip costs for two, line by line

Many quotes online are per person and land-only, so they look smaller than what two people end up paying. Here are two versions of the trip, a leaner one and a more comfortable one, both with flights. The leaner column assumes a 3 to 4 star room a short walk from the beach. The comfortable column assumes a 4 to 5 star beachfront room in Phuket.

Indian passport holders travel to Thailand visa free for tourism, so there is no visa fee line in this budget. The only near-fixed costs are the Maya Bay park entry and the minivan or ferry ticket between Phuket and Krabi. Everything else is a choice. Not counted: travel insurance, a local SIM, shopping and nightlife.

Flights: fly into Phuket, whatever your city

Phuket has far better India connectivity than Krabi, and that shapes the whole trip. IndiGo flies Delhi to Phuket nonstop in about four and a half hours. Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Chennai have nonstops too, on airlines such as IndiGo, Akasa Air, Air India Express and Thai AirAsia, though some run only a few days a week and schedules change by season. Check live fares before you plan around one. One way fares start around Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000 on a good day, so budget roughly Rs 22,000 to Rs 36,000 return per person for most dates. If your city or dates have no nonstop, connecting through Bangkok, Delhi or Mumbai adds a few hours each way.

Krabi's airport barely factors in for most trips. IndiGo added a nonstop from Delhi to Krabi in October 2025, but it runs only a few times a week, so check that it still flies on your dates. Most people fly into Phuket and home from Phuket, which is why the trip runs Phuket first, Krabi second, then the road back to Phuket for your flight. That last drive takes 3.5 to 4 hours, so book a return flight that leaves in the afternoon or evening, not the morning.

Why 3 nights Phuket, 2 nights Krabi, and not the other way round

Five nights is tight for two destinations, so the split matters. Phuket gets 3 nights because it is where your flight lands and leaves from, and because it has more to fill a full day with beyond the beach, from Old Town to a Phang Nga Bay side trip. Krabi gets 2 nights because its appeal is the limestone coastline and the islands you reach by boat. Two nights gives you one full free day, since the day you arrive is mostly travel.

If you flip it to 3 nights in Krabi and 2 in Phuket, you get more of the scenery that makes this route worth doing. You drive the Phuket to Krabi road twice either way, so the flip costs nothing extra in transfers, only Phuket days. I would flip it if Railay or the islands are the main reason you are going, and keep 3 in Phuket if you want Old Town and a spare beach day.

Where to stay in Phuket: Kata or Karon, not Patong

Patong is the beach everyone has heard of, and it shows in the price. A solid 3 or 4 star room in Patong runs higher than the same star rating about twenty minutes south in Kata or Karon, for a beach that is narrower and busier, with nightlife noise that carries into hotel rooms near the main strip. Kata and Karon are quieter, the sand is better, and you are still a short taxi ride from Patong on the one night you might want to see it.

I would book Karon or Kata for this trip unless bar-hopping every night is the plan, in which case Patong is fine, just budget for it. A room in Kata or Karon for two currently runs roughly THB 2,000 to THB 4,000 a night for a decent 3 to 4 star property, working out to about Rs 5,700 to Rs 11,500, and a 4 to 5 star beachfront room costs more than that. One price guide I checked has Karon about 15 to 20 percent cheaper than Patong for the same quality.

Where to stay in Krabi: Ao Nang versus Railay

Ao Nang is the base almost every package uses. It has a road, an ATM on every corner, restaurants that stay open past nine, and it is where the longtail and island tour boats leave from. Railay, twenty minutes away by longtail boat, has no road at all. Everything, including your luggage, goes in by boat, and that scarcity shows up in the room rate, usually more than an equivalent Ao Nang property, with the good rooms selling out first in the November to April season.

For a 2 night stop on a 5 night trip, I would pick Ao Nang and do Railay as a half day beach visit by longtail boat, which costs a few hundred baht each way, rather than paying the Railay premium to sleep there. Railay earns its price if you are staying 3 nights or more and want to wake up to that limestone wall every morning, but on this shorter route it is not where I would spend the extra money.

Phuket to Krabi: ferry or road

This is the one true either-or decision on the route. The direct ferry between Phuket's Rassada Pier and Krabi runs about two hours and fifteen minutes on the water, but by the time you add the van transfer from your Phuket hotel to the pier and from the Krabi pier to Ao Nang, the door to door trip is closer to five to six hours, and tickets for the full minivan plus ferry combo run about THB 700 to THB 1,200 per person, roughly Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,400.

The overland road transfer, a shared or private minivan the whole way round the top of Phang Nga Bay, takes about three and a half to four hours door to door and typically costs less, around THB 350 to THB 600 per person, about Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,700. It is also the more reliable option when the Andaman sea is rough, since ferry sailings get cancelled or rescheduled in bad weather far more often than a minivan does.

I would take the road unless you specifically want the boat ride as part of the day. It is cheaper, faster door to door, and does not depend on sea conditions, which matters more than people expect if your dates sit anywhere near the tail of the monsoon.

The Phi Phi island day and the Maya Bay fee

This is the day that makes the trip. A shared speedboat tour to Phi Phi, Bamboo Island, Pileh Lagoon and Maya Bay from Krabi runs around THB 1,700 per person, roughly Rs 4,900, while a catamaran version of the same route, a smoother ride with fewer people crammed on deck, runs closer to THB 2,950, about Rs 8,500. Neither of those includes the Maya Bay national park entrance fee, which is charged separately, in cash, at THB 400 per adult and THB 200 per child, paid to a park ranger on the day.

Swimming at Maya Bay has been banned since 2022. You see it from a boardwalk for about an hour, so do not build the day around a swim there. The better swimming stops are Pileh Lagoon and Bamboo Island. One date to know: Maya Bay closes every year for an environmental rest. In 2026 the closure runs 1 August to 30 September, reopening 1 October, so check the dates for the year you travel. During a closure the tour still runs but skips the Maya Bay landing, so you see the bay from the boat at most. Krabi's separate 4 Islands tour is a different route around Poda, Chicken and Tup that does not include Maya Bay, so make sure you book the Phi Phi one.

Visa and entry paperwork for Indians

Indian passport holders get a visa exemption for tourism. The exempt stay dropped from 60 days to 30 days for entries from 15 September 2026. That does not touch a 5 night trip, but ignore any older page that still says 60 days. On top of the exemption itself, every traveller, visa exempt or not, must file a Thailand Digital Arrival Card online, free of charge, within 72 hours before landing. Do this yourself on the official portal; do not pay anyone for it.

Dry season or Andaman monsoon: check your dates before you book

Phuket and Krabi both sit on the Andaman coast, and that coast runs on a different calendar to Bangkok. The dry, cool season runs roughly November to April, with December to February the safest weather bet, calm seas, reliable ferries, and full sun for the island tour. May through October is the southwest monsoon, and the Andaman side gets it harder and earlier than the Gulf coast does. Rain tends to come in short, heavy bursts rather than all day washouts, and mornings are often clear. This is also the season when ferry sailings get cancelled on rough days and tour boats sometimes skip the outer islands.

If your dates land anywhere from May to October, keep your plans loose on the island tour day and lean toward the road transfer over the ferry, and check the forecast a day or two out rather than locking a fixed time. Booking December to February removes most of this uncertainty, at the cost of higher hotel and flight prices.

What's worth paying more for, and what to skip

Three things earn the extra rupees on this route. A beachfront or sea view room in Kata or Karon over an inland one, since the difference in your daily experience is bigger than the price gap suggests. The catamaran over the shared speedboat for the island tour, if you get seasick or dislike a crowded deck, since seasickness ruins the day faster than anything else on this trip. And a private car for the Phuket to Krabi transfer if you are carrying more than cabin bags, since a shared minivan with several pickups adds an hour you will not get back.

Two things I would skip. Sleeping in Railay for a 2 night Krabi stop: a half day visit gets you the view without the price or the packing hassle. And paying extra for a Patong hotel for the location alone, since a short taxi from Kata or Karon gets you there for one evening just as easily, without paying the Patong premium for every night.
