Maldives Package for a Family of 4 from India: Cost and Resorts

Budget roughly Rs 4 lakh to Rs 10 lakh for a Maldives package for a family of 4 from India: two adults, two children, four nights, flights included, as of September 2026. Where you land in that range comes down to two choices, speedboat or seaplane, and half board or all-inclusive. If I were booking a family of four out of Mumbai or Bengaluru, I'd pick a speedboat resort on half board and expect to spend about Rs 5 to 6 lakh.

Resorts price almost everything in US dollars, so every rupee figure here is approximate, converted at about Rs 95.6 to the dollar (the mid-market rate on 23 September 2026).

What a Maldives package for a family of 4 from India costs

This is the whole bill for two adults and two kids aged 5 and 9, four nights, with return flights from an Indian metro at the lowest fares Google Flights showed. The room line is my estimate for family-sized categories on sample dates, and it's the softest number here because resort rates swing hard by season. It fits mid-priced speedboat resorts such as Sun Siyam Olhuveli. Hard Rock's Silver Family Suite, the one category there that fits four, is likely to cost more, so a Hard Rock quote can land above the speedboat range. Treat it all as a planning range, not a quote.

Flights for four

On 23 September, Google Flights showed return fares to Male from about Rs 26,400 per person out of Bengaluru, Rs 26,700 from Kochi, Rs 28,200 from Hyderabad, Rs 29,900 from Mumbai, Rs 31,100 from Chennai, Rs 35,800 from Delhi with one stop and Rs 39,100 from Kolkata. Delhi's cheapest nonstop was Rs 45,200, about Rs 1.8 lakh for four seats, so a Delhi family flying nonstop should budget roughly Rs 20,000 to Rs 70,000 more than the table. I've priced four full seats; if your airline knocks something off for children, count it as a bonus. Google's fare history marks November as the cheapest month from most of these cities and July or August as the dearest. If you're tied to Christmas dates, price the flights before anything else.

Transfers: where kids stop being cheap

Resort transfers are charged per head, and this is the line that quietly doubles a family budget. Hard Rock Hotel Maldives, 15 to 20 minutes from the airport by speedboat, charges USD 180 per adult and USD 90 per child aged 6 to 11 for a shared return, tax included, and nothing for children aged 5 and under. The example family pays USD 450, about Rs 43,000.

Seaplanes change the maths. Siyam World lists a return seaplane at USD 490 per adult and USD 295 per child, a 40-minute flight. That's USD 1,570 for two adults and two kids, about Rs 1.5 lakh, before anyone has eaten. Two traps sit inside those numbers. The page doesn't say where the child fare ends, so ask whether a 12-year-old pays the adult rate; if so, two teenagers push the same bill to about Rs 1.9 lakh. And seaplanes fly only in daylight. At Siyam World they run from 6 am to 4 pm, with a 3.30 pm airport check-in cut-off and 20 kg of checked bags plus 5 kg of hand baggage per person. So your international flight generally has to land by about 3 pm, or you need a night near the airport, and a family of four can't pack like it's a road trip.

Green tax and the plus-plus

Every guest aged two and above pays the Maldives green tax of USD 12 per night at resorts; only infants under two are exempt. Four people over four nights comes to USD 192, about Rs 18,400. Then there's the "++" after resort prices, which means a 10 percent service charge and 17 percent T-GST on top. Together they add a little under 30 percent, so ask every agent whether their figure is net or plus-plus.

Meals: kids often eat free, with fine print

Young children usually eat free, but from the kids' menu. At Hard Rock, all-inclusive is USD 210++ per adult per day, about Rs 25,800 once taxes are added. Under-6s eat free from the kids' menu, 6 to 11-year-olds can do the same or pay half the adult plan to eat what you eat, and from 12 they're charged as adults. Half board there is USD 95++ per adult, which is why the left-hand column is so much cheaper. Some resorts also insist the whole family sits on one plan: LUX* South Ari Atoll says guests in the same villa must share a meal plan, children and teens included. With two small kids, I think all-inclusive buys you calm more than food, because nobody is signing bills for every juice.

The room trap: many villas take only one child

The thing to watch for in a cheap family quote is a villa priced for two adults with "kids stay free" stapled on, when that villa can't actually take two children. Resorts publish maximum occupancy in their factsheets, and it's strict:

• Siyam World: the Pool Beach Villa and the Water Villa with Pool and Slide take two adults and one child. The Sunset Pool Beach Villa, Beach Suite with Pool and Lagoon Villa with Pool and Slide take two adults and two children.
• Sun Siyam Olhuveli: the Beach Pavilion, Water Villa and Deluxe Water Villa stop at two adults and one child. The Grand Beach Villa and Grand Water Villa take two plus two.
• Hard Rock: almost every studio and villa maxes out at three people. The two-bedroom Silver Family Suite takes four adults and two children.
• LUX South Ari Atoll:* the Overwater Infinity Pool Villa takes two adults and one child, but the standard Water Villa takes two adults and two children. The Family Beach and Family Lagoon Pavilions are two interconnecting rooms for two adults and up to four children.

So my rule: with two kids under 12, find a category the resort itself lists as "2 adults and 2 children". With teenagers, a two-bedroom villa or two connecting rooms is usually the only setup that works. And with two young kids I'd skip the entry-level water villas at Siyam World and Olhuveli. They take two adults and one child at most, and a deck over deep water is a lot to supervise with a five-year-old.

The package cards below are priced for two adults, so add the kids using the rates above.

Hard Rock Hotel Maldives: the shortest boat ride

The 15 to 20 minute speedboat makes this the easiest arrival on this list for small children. The Roxity Kids Club takes ages 3 to 11 (they must be potty trained) and is open daily from 10 am to 6 pm at no charge, and teens aged 12 to 17 get their own Teen Spirit club. Kids aged 12 and under stay free using the existing beds or a cot, and babysitting is available from seven months at USD 30++ per child per hour. It sits next to The Marina at CROSSROADS, which adds more places to eat. Skip it if you want a quiet island to yourselves.

Siyam World: the water park island

This is the one older kids will beg for. Siyam Water World, which the resort bills as the biggest floating water park in the Maldives, comes with unlimited access on the WOW all-inclusive plan. Kidz World runs from 9 am to 10 pm for ages 3 to 11, and there's an Indian restaurant, Kurry Leaf. Current offer terms say under-12s stay free in their parents' room (two at most) and eat free on your meal plan, though on all-inclusive, under-12s order from the kids' menu at the a la carte restaurants. Getting there is a 40-minute seaplane or a 30-minute domestic flight plus a 15-minute speedboat. The current offer also makes a shared seaplane seat for one person free on stays of four nights or more (two people from seven nights), except from 23 December 2026 to 10 January 2027, which trims the seaplane bill above. Families with only toddlers should look elsewhere: under-3s must stay with a parent at the club.

Sun Siyam Olhuveli: big lagoon, speedboat price

Olhuveli gets you a big resort without seaplane fares: it's a 45-minute speedboat from the airport in South Male Atoll. The Maakanaa Kidz Club takes ages 3 to 12 (9 am to noon, then 2 pm to 10 pm), there are five kids' pools, and Namaste serves Indian food. One warning: part of the resort is an adults-only island, TUI BLUE Olhuveli Romance, so make sure your villa is on the Main or Dream island.

LUX* South Ari Atoll: calmer, and good for vegetarians

This is my pick for families who care most about food. Every restaurant carries a Keen On Green plant-based menu, and Indian is among the cuisines. The PLAY club takes ages 3 to 11, teens get their own programme, and the family pavilions sort out the sleeping question. It's a 25-minute seaplane; the resort itself advises against the 3 to 4 hour speedboat. Whale shark trips cost USD 155 per adult or teen and USD 73 per child. Skip it if seaplane fares for four already stretch the budget.

Resorts families should skip

Two speedboat resorts near Male are adults-only. Centara Ras Fushi admits only guests above 18, and Adaaran Prestige Vadoo calls itself an adults-only retreat. If either shows up on a family itinerary, send it back.

How many days with kids, and when

Four nights is enough at a speedboat resort. For a seaplane resort, I'd stretch to five, so the transfer bill and the daylight rule are spread over more beach days. Fewer than four nights with kids means the arrival and departure days eat too much of the holiday.

The northeast monsoon, roughly January to March, is the driest stretch, with December and April in between, and the wetter southwest monsoon runs from about mid-May to November. November is the tail end of the wet season: showers are easing and, per Google Flights, it's usually the cheapest month for airfares, so it suits families whose school break falls then, as long as they can live with some rain. Paperwork for the kids

The Maldives grants a tourist visa on arrival with no pre-approval, but the rules are strict for children. Every child needs their own passport, and every traveller, children included, must file a separate Traveller Declaration on the IMUGA portal within 96 hours before arrival. It's free. Immigration also asks for passports with at least one month's validity, confirmed return tickets, a prepaid resort booking and enough funds for the stay, so carry printouts for all four of you.

Questions to ask before you pay

Line up your quotes and ask each agent the same five things:

1. Does the room category take two adults and two children, per the resort's own factsheet?
2. Are transfers priced per head with the child rates shown, and are they return?
3. Are green tax, the 10 percent service charge and 17 percent T-GST included?
4. Do the kids eat from the kids' menu or the adult plan?
5. Does the price allow for the T-GST change due on 1 October 2026? The Maldives is extending its 17 percent T-GST to foreign tour operators, wholesalers, online travel agencies and travel advisers selling Maldives tourism products, using a special method to work out the taxable value, and Destination Future, an industry group, is asking the government to pause it.

Some families shouldn't book the Maldives with kids at all: those with toddlers who hate boats, and anyone who wants a new sight every day. They'll be happier comparing it with Mauritius. For everyone else, choose the room category first and the resort second, read the occupancy line on any water villa, and the Maldives is an easy family trip.
