Maldives New Year Packages 2026: Price, Gala Dinners, Minimum Stays

For a couple, New Year in the Maldives runs from about Rs 3.9 lakh at Adaaran Select Hudhuran Fushi to over Rs 10 lakh at JA Manafaru. That's four nights including December flights from Delhi and, at JA, the New Year's Eve gala, but before the festive room supplement. In mid-January the same two stays cost Rs 2.94 lakh and Rs 7.96 lakh, flights not included. What New Year adds is a gala dinner that costs USD 700 per adult at JA Manafaru and runs past USD 1,000 at the top resorts, December's highest airfares, festive room rates and, at some resorts, a five-night minimum. If your dates are fixed between Christmas and the first week of January, book by early October. If they aren't, move the trip to 11 to 20 January and keep the difference.

Prices here are approximate, as of September 2026. Where I convert US dollars, I use Rs 95.6, the XE mid-market rate on 23 September 2026.

Why late December to 10 January is its own season

Resorts price the festive stretch as a separate season with its own rules, and their public offers show it. Meeru Island Resort's 40 percent deal on beach pool villas (book by 30 September 2026, three-night minimum) covers stays from 1 August to 26 December 2026 and restarts on 6 January 2027. The nights in between are simply missing. Kandima's festive offer runs from 24 December 2026 to 10 January 2027 and comes with a five-night minimum stay between 26 December and 7 January, plus no check-outs on 31 December.

The expensive window runs past New Year because resorts also stage Orthodox Christmas programmes around 7 January. Adaaran Select Hudhuran Fushi runs its festive line-up from 10 December to 10 January, with an Orthodox Christmas Eve dinner in early January, and JA Manafaru plans an Orthodox Christmas gala and a Ded Moroz arrival in the first week of January. So the festive premium covers anything from ten days to a month, depending on the resort.

I won't give you a single festive markup, because there isn't an honest one. Each resort sets its own festive dates and rates, and the jump differs by villa type. The practical test is simple: ask for the same villa and meal plan quoted for your New Year dates and for 12 January. The difference is your festive premium, and that's the number to judge the trip on.

Gala dinners on 24 and 31 December: what resorts charge

Check this line before you pay, because it often sits outside the villa rate. On 24 and 31 December, resorts run gala dinners, and how you're billed depends on your meal plan and the resort's terms. Here's what resorts publish for this festive season (JA Manafaru's figures are as its festive page listed them on 23 September 2026):

In rupees, JA Manafaru's New Year gala for two adults is USD 1,400, about Rs 1,33,800. Stay for both Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve and it's USD 2,400, about Rs 2,29,400. A family of four with two children aged 6 to 11 pays USD 3,600 for both galas, about Rs 3,44,200. At the top end, Conrad Maldives Rangali Island's festive page lists a compulsory New Year's Eve supplement of USD 1,093.95 per adult for 31 December 2026, gala dinner included, about Rs 1,04,600.

On half board or bed and breakfast, assume the gala is extra until the resort confirms otherwise in writing. You often can't dodge it by eating somewhere else on the island, because some resorts close their à la carte restaurants on the gala evenings. All-inclusive helps but isn't a guarantee. Kandima says plainly that both galas are in the rate. Adaaran's brochure prices the galas only for outside guests, so ask for written confirmation that your contract carries no gala supplement before you pay.

If you're vegetarian or Jain, tell the resort when you book. A buffet gala is easy to eat around. If a resort serves a set menu instead, it needs notice so the kitchen can plan a proper vegetarian menu.

Minimum stays, no-checkout nights and the seaplane clock

Kandima's rule shows what you're up against: five nights minimum from 26 December to 7 January, and nobody checks out on 31 December. That rules out a four-night stay from 28 December to 1 January at that resort. You'd need to arrive by 27 December or stay until 2 January. Other resorts set their own versions, so ask for the festive minimum before you fall for a villa.

Seaplanes add a second constraint. Trans Maldivian Airways flies only between sunrise and sunset and asks guests to land in Male by 3:30 pm for a same-day transfer. Going home, it handles international flights leaving after 9 am. Miss the cut-off and you're paying for a night in Male or Hulhumale that wasn't in your plan. If your resort is a seaplane ride away, pick flights that land by early afternoon. Speedboat resorts near the airport, like Centara Ras Fushi (about 20 minutes) and Adaaran Select Hudhuran Fushi (about 30 minutes), are far more forgiving.

Flights from Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru in December

On Kayak's route data, December is the priciest month to fly to Male from all three cities. These are average return fares against each city's cheapest month:

• Delhi: about Rs 48,500 in December against Rs 37,300 in September. The nonstop is Air India, a little over four hours.
• Mumbai: about Rs 36,600 in December against Rs 27,500 in September, with IndiGo nonstop in under three hours.
• Bengaluru: about Rs 36,600 in December against Rs 27,400 in November, again IndiGo nonstop, about two hours.

Those are monthly averages, and the days just before Christmas and New Year are the ones everyone wants, so don't expect the average on those dates. For a couple, treat about Rs 73,000 from Mumbai or Bengaluru and about Rs 97,000 from Delhi as a starting point, not a cap. Kayak also reckons Mumbai to Male fares run about 27 percent lower when bought around 22 weeks ahead rather than at the last minute. For a late-December trip that window opened in July, so you're past it already. That is the reason to fix your flights this week.

Diwali week vs New Year

If you'd rather build a festive trip around leave you already plan to take, look at Diwali. It falls on Sunday 8 November 2026, and the Dhanteras to Bhai Dooj stretch runs from 6 to 11 November. That week sits before the resorts' festive season, so gala charges and festive minimum stays shouldn't apply (ask whether the resort runs a Diwali dinner), and deals like Meeru's still do if you book by 30 September 2026. The catch is on the Indian side: Diwali week is a peak travel week, so treat its flights as peak flights and book them now. November is also still the tail of the southwest monsoon, according to the Maldives Meteorological Service, so expect some showers. I haven't priced a Diwali-week package here, so get one quoted next to your New Year dates. For a couple chasing the lowest bill I'd still put mid-January first and Diwali second. For a family that wants the driest weather, mid-January wins as well.

The cheaper first half of January

My pick is 11 to 20 January. The festive programmes wrap up around 10 January, offers like Meeru's reopen for stays from 6 January, and the weather gets better, not worse. The Maldives Meteorological Service treats December as a transition month and January to March as the dry northeast monsoon, with 10 to 11 hours of sunshine a day against 7 to 9 in the other months. If you can move by even a week, this is where I'd put the trip.

What four nights for two costs in mid-January

The January-dated packages below are priced for two adults and four nights, with transfers, taxes and green tax included and flights not included. Their start dates fall between 12 and 20 January 2027, so treat them as your non-festive baseline:

• Centara Ras Fushi: Rs 2,41,943, all-inclusive, two nights in a beach villa and two overwater, 20-minute speedboat. Adults only, so it's out for families.
• Sun Siyam Olhuveli: Rs 2,93,799, full board, a beach pavilion with pool access plus a water villa, 45-minute speedboat.
• Adaaran Select Hudhuran Fushi: Rs 2,94,263, premium all-inclusive, garden villa plus sunrise ocean villa, 30-minute speedboat.
• Radisson Blu Resort Maldives: Rs 3,50,852, breakfast only, overwater pool villa, seaplane.
• JA Manafaru: Rs 7,96,083, half board, beach and water villas with private pools, seaplane.

Adaaran Select Meedhupparu (Rs 3,66,469, all-inclusive), Pullman Maldives Maamutaa (Rs 4,54,549, all-inclusive) and JW Marriott Maldives (Rs 6,68,481, half board) sit in between.

Now layer New Year on top of two very different options:

The last line to add is the festive room supplement for those villas on your exact dates, and only a live quote gives you that. From Mumbai or Bengaluru, take about Rs 24,000 off the flight line.

For most couples I'd pick Centara Ras Fushi or Adaaran Select Hudhuran Fushi in mid-January. You get the same villas, better weather and no gala line for about Rs 3.4 lakh to Rs 3.9 lakh, even if you price Delhi flights at December's average. Book New Year itself only if the date matters to you. Families with two children should price the child gala supplements before anything else, and skip Centara, which is adults only.

When to book, and in what order

Late September is late but workable. Early-bird festive offers are still open, but not for long: Fushifaru's booking window runs until 15 October 2026 and Meyyafushi's until 31 October 2026, both for stays from 24 December 2026 to 10 January 2027, with up to 25 percent off villas. Beyond the discount, what you're competing for is the specific villa you want and a flight that fits your transfer. Here's the order I'd follow:

1. Flights first, landing in Male by early afternoon if your resort needs a seaplane.
2. Then the resort, with four things written on the quote: the festive minimum stay, the gala charge per adult and per child, whether the offer applies over your dates, and the cancellation terms for festive stays.
3. Then the paperwork. Indians get a tourist visa on arrival with no pre-approval, but you need a passport with at least one month's validity, a confirmed return ticket, a prepaid booking and enough funds. Each traveller, children included, files the free IMUGA Traveller Declaration within 96 hours before arrival on the Maldives Immigration portal. If New Year is the point of the trip, commit by early October and get the gala and minimum-stay terms in writing. If it isn't, 11 January onwards gives you better weather for less money.
